We will learn the importance of the three body systems as a model of our health; Why testing and normalizing our adrenal health can protect us from burnout; Testing and eliminating hidden pathogens in the gut to eliminate hidden stressors and increase resilience; How Organic Acid Testing can give us a direct look at our neuro chemistry, energy production markers, etc. to prevent and correct practitioner burnout.
Objectives
1. How to apply Functional med testing to assess our health and resilience of our stress response, digestion, detox, and metabolic function.
2. How this lab information can be translated into a cohesive picture of our wellness and function and an actionable plan to make us feel our best and prevent clinician burnout.
3. Based on the lab testing how we can modify our lifestyle, rid ourselves of infections, and smartly choose supplements to keep our physical, mental, and emotional selves functioning at peak performance in our clinics and lives.
Duncan Macdonald is a licensed acupuncturist and Functional medicine practitioner with over 19 years of clinical experience. He graduated with his Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1999. In 2003 Duncan Macdonald co-founded Secara, a professional integrative medicine products company. He has advanced training in orthopedic medicine under the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics and sits on the board of the National Board of Acupuncture and Internal Medicine.
Duncan has completed the advanced curriculum and certification under the Kalish Institute of Functional Medicine. He now teaches as senior faculty at the Kalish Institute preparing the next generation of practitioners in advanced functional lab interpretation and protocol design.
He sees patients in person at his Origins Medicine's San Francisco location where he blends the latest in Functional Medicine with the ancient healing knowledge of acupuncture and Chinese medicine. He also assists patients globally through telemedicine.
Duncan has lectured extensively to both the general public and other healthcare providers on Functional Medicine, Acupuncture, and traditional Chinese medicine, including the Spine Center at University of California, San Francisco, medical center.
