In this course Jani will bring her 2 decades of obstetric acupuncture and doula work experience to discuss the energetics of onset of labour from both the physiologic and from the Chinese medicine perspectives.

We will discuss the ways in which modern obstetric practice inhibits women, and the ways in which we can use acupuncture in the weeks leading up to labour to help women to prepare for labour - in a way that allows them to open fully to the pathway of relinquishment that is necessary to open the ‘doorway to the womb’.

We will discuss in detail the ways that we can use acupuncture to help women cross the mental-emotional barriers that inhibit the ability to open the gateway from the ‘MindHeart’.

This is the key to allowing the onset of labour, in accordance with the schedule that is dictated by nature’s wisdom - a tough nut to crack in this current culture of risk aversion and scheduled management.

We will discuss the important role of the Eight Extra’s, the hidden gems on the Pericardium and San Jiao channels, we will demonstrate excellent technique for needling Kidney 1, and the entire course will be peppered with all the ways we can use acupuncture in order to compliment and enhance the use of the expelling points.

Most times it is simply not enough to approach induction through the ‘forbidden points’. Most often we need to address the underlying energetic structure in order to facilitate the gateways to open. You can needle Bladder 32 until the cows come home - if the heart is closed it simply won’t work.

This course is all about acupuncture, and how we can effectively use our great body of theory and practice to shift and change the energetic. Acupuncture is one of the best modalities to facilitate the doorways to open for the labour to commence.
